Grace

Mmmmmm, excellent......
I finally finished my Grace sweater. Almost, I still need to do some more blocking. the bottom part seems to roll up whenever it pleases. There is also the issue of tons of loose threads every which way on the inside. As always though it feels good to have a finished object to show.

I don't know why but this quote is all I can think of during the last quarter of any project I'm working on. Like its been going on forever and now that the end is in sight it simply will not come. Sigh. This is why I usually prefer to work on objects that require a 10.5 needle or larger, cause I am one lazy ass ho. I like my projects quick, cheap and easy, just like I like my men.

This is an older picture of the 'Grace' sweater from Knitty. I've already completed the front sections and I'm almost done with the back piece. I'm about 2 days from finishing the knitting portion and maybe even the sewing sections. All that will be left is the blocking and drying. Fun stuff.

Shrug Again

Another shot of the shrug. I think that my dime store camera does no justice to the colors of Noro yarn.

Pattern for shrug: The lazy method.

For the shrug I ended up being kind of lazy and making something up. I cast on about 44 stitches on 10.5 needles and decreased every 3rd row till there were 40 stiches then I just kept ribbing till I reached the end of the next sleeve and added a stitch every 3rd row till there were 44. It was basically a ribbed scarf with some sewing.

I got a chance today to wear it to the movies and it didn't drive me crazy itching, so score for me.

GRRRRR!! Such a sexxy bastard. Matt finally makes an appearance, hopefully not his last as he models the Devil Hat from SnB. It is the 'must have' accessory for his Catholic school studies. I debated on making this for him simply because it is a warning to his vicitms: Here be evil. But luckily people just aren't bright enough or just don't want to see the heart of darkness in others.

NoroBag

SNB make another apperance here. This paticular project started as a scarf and ended as the "Zeeby's Bag". I used the oh so nifty Noro yarn Kuryeon. I haven't decided if I'm going to felt the bag or leave as is. It is nice for carrying around other knitting projects but a little flimsy to carry anything heavy like a change purse. We will just have to wait and see.

Frivol Hat

This was probably my favorite hat to knit. It was unusual because it is knit sideways instead of the usual bottom to top or vice versa. The next time I do this one I'll leave out the decorative bobbles. I got the pattern from http://dtuttle.com/debiknits/ . It is also one of the few works that gets the notice of other knitters on the streets. Or at least one of the ones that they stop to comment on.

Yet another Sack sweater from SNB. For Some odd reason this particular sweater has the ability to make your chest look much larger then usual. That can be a good or bad thing depending on what your going for. This time I did a ribbed bottom and neckline instead of the patterns rolled ones. I loved the yarn on this project when usually I just settle for what I can afford. I bought it off of Ebay with some trepedition but was pleased with what arrived in the mail. Sweet.

Queen O' Hearts

Hearts

Around the holidays, regardless of which ones they are, I get the urge to celebrate visusally. Back in high school I had a mannequin head that could mount to the front grill of my car and it would wear a variety of decorations (Reindeer horns & mistletoe, Happy New Year party hat, Halloween mask, etc.) but now I knit my own decorations to wear for the day. On Valentine's it was a six foot long pink/rasberry scarf with the heart pattern found of Knitty's "cheesylove". I'd take a picture of me wearing it but it is far too hot in Texas right now, even indoors, to contemplate it.

Since it was the first knitting book I ever owned and its basically where I learned all that I know, I tend to reference Stitch N Bitch in most of my work in some way or another. This is the sack sweater with the skully pattern replacing the cable. I think I have made 4 or 5 variations of that one sweater. The other kids in my classes thought it was so neat that I could knit right until I held up the work and they saw a skull and crossbones looking back at them. Thats when they grew eyes in the back of their heads to watch the crazy knitter in the rear of the classroom. I loved that irrational fear almost as much as the fear I got when my hair was still blue.

A note about the sweater. It was made for my sister who is wearing the matching Kittyville hat in the picture. Her boyfriend is the one doing the modeling. That way you could see the picture streched out across the front of the sweater.

Kyoto1

Success!! I finally got a picture to load. This particular sweater took a little over 3 weeks to knit. Most of that time was spent on the seed stitch portion of the sash. Otherwise it would not have taken nearly as long. As usual my budget did not allow for the fancy yarn that patterns usually call for so I used a yarn from Hobby Lobby called Sinfonia. I think it came out quite well and I like the way it drapes on me. Now I'm working on the "Grace" pattern from the same woman who designed the Kyoto. So far I've finished the front sections.
