Do not adjust your screen. The picture isn't dark, I actually managed a tan. Today we returned from a second trip to the beach. Even more impressive? The fact that we convinced my grandmother and my great aunt to join us at South Padre. No one could believe that they had left the house without being threatened with bodily harm. To pass some of the time I knitted a matching scarf to go with my fraggle hat. I had never knitted a scarf with vertical stripes on circular needles so I greatly overestimated how many stitches to cast on. The scarf ended up being over 12 ft long. At least it only took 2 days to knit.

I finally got around to finishing the clapotis in microspun. All I needed was a couple of late nights on my parents lazy-boy recliner watching Degrassi: The Next Generation to motivate me. My sister is modeling the final product which also doubles nicely as a scarf.

A nice one day knitting object. We've holed up in the house to wait out the "hurricane" and this was my project. So far we've had a few sprinkles here and there but nothing to keep me from wandering around town. This pattern is the Happy Hat from marniemaclean.com and made from Lion Brand Homespun in Fuchsia and Yarn Bee Frosting in Candy Dots. So far it has elicited either jaw dropping stares or outright laughter. Excellent.

Home Sweet Home. What could be better than a visit home? A visit home just before a hurricane hits. Nice. I'm down in the Rio Grande Valley and I've just gotten in from South Padre Island, I would have stayed longer but no one else had the same disregard for personal safety that I do. Here is my sister modeling the second Lelah top that I've made. I used a smaller needle size this time around to give it a more fitted look. What a great pattern to do. It's cheap and easy, just like the men I like.

My Lelah top is now officially on lockdown. I've added some I-cords and made it into a halter top. If it so pleases me I can even add two more in the back so I can tie it up in little bows on my shoulders. Though I may not go that girly just yet.

I had seen this top awhile ago and added it to my long list of "to-do-someday" projects. Then not to long ago I saw a version of this that had been done in CottonTots and I was inspired! I just happened to have 3 skeins of variegated cottontots sitting in my stash just waiting for the right project to come along. Originally I was going to do a 3rd pinwheel baby blanket but that was crazy talk. I may end up adding on some straps at the top just to add a bit of security to my girls. We will have to see.

Extreme Closeup Clapotis

What can I say? The clap is catching. I finally submitted to the awesome power of the Clapotis. 2 days ago I was hit with the fever and now I can't turn back. I'm doing it in Lion Brand Microspun in purple and it is coming along pretty fast. More pictures to follow if I ever get this thing done.

So hypnotic.......so swirly. One can only hope that the baby it is going to will not suffer from some tie-dyed psychosis as a result. I finished my second spiral baby blanket in just under 2 weeks. I decided to go a little slower and give my hands a break lest I get carpal tunnel at a young age. This time around I used Bernat's "Cotton Tots" in Jelly Belly. It took 3 skeins for the body and 1/2 for the outer edge. My last blanket kept curling at the edge so this time around I did a garter stitch and it made it a lot easier to deal with when photographing. I took this photo outdoors in the evening so it is much more bluish then real life. Its much more green and purple.
